1893 World's Columbian Exposition Some type of clip made of brass shell. The image on the front pictures Miss Liberty holding a ribbon in her right hand that reads "Welcome all Nations". In her left hand is an American Shield. She is standing in front of the US Capitol. To the right is a portrait of Columbus. Around the edge at top is "World's Columbian Exposition" and around the bottom ""Chicago, U.S.A. 1893". The back has a moving bar that will grab the cloth or string that goes behind it and down through the lower piece. I would have thought that this was for a bolo tie, but according to google, the bolo was not invented until the 1930s. Size: 1 1/2" wide by 2 1/16" high. Condition: Extremely Fine, a little toning and a couple of small spots. The grabber bar in the back works perfectly.
