1893 World's Columbian Exposition Children's Book, "Little Folks History of the United States." With the cover picturing "Independence Hall" with doors that open to reveal the Continental Congress. The pages are thick cardboard and every page is printed in multicolor chromolithograph on one side of every page. Each page pictures scenes from different important events in American History including the Revolution, War of 1812, Mexican American War and the Civil War with a description on the facing page. The back cover pictures "President Cleveland opening the World's Fair" with an aerial view of the fairgrounds. At the bottom of the back page is "The World's Columbian Exposition Chicago.", "1493" (so they made a small mistake on the year), "1893". The pages are tied together with the original string. Published by "De Wolfe Fiske & Co." of "Boston". This is a wonderful children's item. Size: 12" wide by 8 1/8" high. Condition: Very Fine with bright vibrant colors on all the pages. There is some corner damage. Some of the string holes on one end are torn. There are some light spots on the cover. It has both doors on the cover and the few others that I have seen over the years have had one or both doors missing.
