1893 World's Columbian Exposition
Columbus Landing - Copper, 26mm
The obverse features a bearded bust of Columbus facing wearing a ruffled collar. Columbus 1492 - 1892 around. The reverse has a landing scene of Columbus kneeling on one knee holding the flag of Castile, Spain claiming the new land. Two crew members left and two caravels with full sails right. Listed as Eglit 325, Starlust ST-eg-325. An R-5 which we grade as MS-61 red/brown. Appearance is attractive with smooth surfaces. Provenance - Steve Starlust Collection.
