1905 Lewis & Clark International Exposition Large Bronze Medal in the Original Box. Obverse: Logo of 3 people and sunset with "Lewis & Clark Centennial Exposition" around the top and "Portland, Oregon. U.S.A. 1905" around the bottom. In the ribbon below the 3 figures is "westward the course of empire takes its way". Reverse has a wreath around the edge and the center is blank. I believe this is an award medal that was never issued. The box is black with gold writing "Lewis & Clark - 1905- Centennial Exposition:, "Portland, Oregon". The medal fits into a brown felt insert inside the box bottom. The maker is "Butterfield Bros." Size: 2 1/2" diameter by 1/4" thick. Box is 3 7/8" square by 1/2" thick. Condition: The medal is Excellent with overall toning. The box is Extremely Fine with some edge wear.
