1893 World's Columbian Exposition Flag of Castile - Bright Brass, 24mm Here's a spectacular example of a hard-to-find medal. Sharply struck with highly reflective mirror-like surfaces. The obverse features a wide-eyed, clean shaven bust of Columbus with fairly long hair. reading COLUMBUS 1492-1892. The reverse has a crisply struck landing scene of Columbus kneeling on one knee holding the flag of Castile, Spain claiming the new land. Two crew members left and two caravels right. Both sides are encircled by large denticles. Listed as Eglit 213, Starlust ST-eg-213, Unlisted in HK or SC$. An R-5 which we grade a dynamic PF-66. Certainly a top pop.
