Hardcover Book, "Building of the World Expositions" © 1985 translated from German. This book goes into great detail regarding the construction of pavilions for World's Fairs from 1851-1970. For the early fairs it discuses the creative structures and engineering designs that were built to create the huge spaces for the expositions. Once the book gets to the 20th century, the discussion turns to the changing of the architecture as displayed in the fairs. There is a lengthy discussion of the 1933 fair, but little mention of the 1939 New York fair (he ignored the T&P completely). The book is filled with design drawings and pictures of the exposition buildings. The author talks about the architects and likes to discuss art work that was displayed at the fairs. 214 pages plus a "Chronological Table" of the expositions (as he sees it), a bibliography of notes and index making for a total of 224 pages. Size: 9 5/8" wide by 10 7/8" high. Condition. The book is Excellent with small tears at the bottom of 2 pages. The dust cover is Good. It has tears at the top and the original plastic coating is almost all gone.

Hard Cover Book, "The World's Columbian Exposition" by "Norman Bolotin & Christine Laing". This 158 page book along with an addition 4 page index in the back contains 4 main chapters "Planning and Building the World's Columbian Exposition", "A Grand Tour of the White City", "The Exhibits and Attractions" and "A Week at the Fair". The story walks you through the fairgrounds describing what one would see along the way. It is filled with photographs on almost every page. Some of the photographs are ones that most collectors have never seen. The information is authoritative and you can tell that Norm did extensive research in writing this book. A most enjoyable read for any World's Fair enthusiast. I highly recommend it. Size: 8 3/4" wide by 11 1/4" high. Condition: Near Mint, except that the dust cover has a missing piece at the top.
